Monday Morning Memo, 5/18/2020

At the start of Spring Break, the pandemic closure and scramble to shift to online school it felt like time was moving incredibly slow.  Staying at home and time began to blend and sometimes I found myself trying to figure out what day it was.  Fast forward to the present and now I can’t believe that this is our last week of school.  Time has moved quickly and tomorrow will be our final faculty gathering for the year.  And my final one with you all.  It’s a bittersweet ending to a truly awesome tenure for me at Hixson. I enjoyed our time together and the work we were able to do.  I appreciate the kind sentiments shared in the past few weeks and this is definitely not a good bye but a see you around.  In five years, I will walk through the doors of Hixson behind Charlotte and say multiple prayers that she stays out of drama, off the internet and the principal’s office.  I’m looking forward to watching her grow in your classes.  Thank you for the past three years.  I don’t have words that truly capture the gratitude in my heart but I appreciate the blood, sweat and tears poured to make it an amazing school for kids.  Often times, I believe the credit is not given to the right people when things start to shift and go right.  Hixson’s shift did not come from me but truly it was from each of you.  The heart of a school is found inside of the teachers that walk day in and day out- sometimes into calm and peace and other times straight into the fire.  Thank you for being fireproof and pouring into the kids…our school.  I will miss you.

Monday Morning Memo, 5/11/2020

I hope you had a great weekend celebrating the beautiful weather and all the mama’s in your lives for Mother’s Day!  This week, we will not be meeting for a Faculty Gathering on Tuesday so that we can continue with our schedule of packing up our rooms for the year.  Please let any of us know if you have any questions or concerns.  If you need to come up before or after your scheduled time, just let me know.  You are welcome to come get what you need but just need to make sure it’s not conflicting with the numbers in the area of the building you need to access.

We enjoyed celebrating each of you from a far last week and hope you felt our appreciation.  Mike, Aimee and I had a lot of fun seeing each of you and really enjoyed our visits, albeit brief, with each of you!  One more message from Jimmy Fallon that echo’s what we think about each of you!
