Have a great week and let me know if you need anything.

With gratitude,
Grace

Sunday Night Memo, 8/18/19

August 18, 2019

Thank you for a great first week of school!  The family groups were a great way to kick off the start of the year getting to know kids and establishing routines.  I’m excited about the upcoming year and all the exciting things that are about to happen.  I hope you were able to rest and rejuvenate after getting back into the swing of full teaching days.

Have a great week!
With gratitude,
Grace

Room Share 2019-2020
Many of us are sharing rooms this year because well, we are out of space in the building.  I wanted to let you know that I’m also sharing my office again with the Vision Team teacher and two paraprofessionals.  The door will be open most times if you drop by but if I’m not in, let Sarah know and she will track me down.  Thanks to all of the folks sharing school space this year.

Student/Teacher Time Out Process
While the first week is generally the honeymoon period, I wanted to send out a reminder about our new Student/Teacher Time Out process.  If you have a kid who may need a break, please follow the new process so we know how to support the student.  Please do not just send a student out of the classroom without letting Jenn know in the office.  I’ve attached the process to this email as well.  Let any of us know if you have any questions.

FIRST Fire Drill
Our first drill will be on Wednesday, 8/21, during 1sthour.  Please make sure you have everything you need for your folder.  If you are missing anything, let Mike know.

Outs for the Week
-Aimee, Mike and Grace out on Thursday for DLT meeting at CO, 8am-1:00pm
-Grace out on Friday for Personal Day

Sunday Night Memo on a Monday, 8/12/19

August 12, 2019

It’s about to happen…the first day of school!  There has been A LOT of activity in the halls of Hixson today with folks moving about and getting things ready.  I hope between the buzz of excitement and the panic for wanting more time, you were able to find some time to carve out for yourself.  One last nap…one last cup of coffee at a leisurely pace…one last dip in the pool.  I’m looking forward to putting away summer Grace (though I will miss the shorts and t-shirt) and welcome in the new year.  Thank you for all the care you put into making your classrooms safe and inviting for kids.  The community you create in those spaces is incredible!

Thank you especially to Aimee and Mike for the endless work they do behind the scenes to serve kids and teachers.  It has been a crazy summer of curveballs and life just happening but they have taken each one with grace and worked to ensure we are ready for school.  There is no greater team of admin people I’m honored to serve alongside than those two and their work is appreciated!

Starting next week, the memo will go out on Sunday, like usual.

In the meantime, let me know if you need anything and enjoy this last night!

With gratitude,
Grace
