We are in the final stretch before our well-deserved Winter Break!  It will be a continued roller coaster ride with kids as some are unable to contain their excitement and others are not looking forward to being disconnected from the comforts of school.  The week should fly by fast and soon you will be able to relax.  A teacher never really connects from school but I hope you find time to relax, sleep in and do something you love.  This is the last Sunday Night Memo of the year and will reconnect in the new year.

Sounds of Hixson, 12/19

Join us Wednesday for a night of beautiful music from our Fine Arts department. The concert begins at 6:30pm. 

Staff Holiday Buffet, 12/20

On Thursday, the library will be closed for our Holiday Buffet during all lunches.  Thank you to Social Courtesy for organizing this tradition.

Hour of Code, 12/21

Remember we will be on a flipped Hixson Hour schedule on Friday for our school wide Hour of Code event.  A reminder will be sent out this week. 

Hixson Record Day, 1/4/19

We return to school on Friday for a records day. 

Annual Holiday Party, 1/4/19

Our Holiday Party will begin at 3pm and will be hosted by Jason Heisel.  Thank you, Jason for opening up your home!

Faculty Meeting, 3/10

Faculty meeting will begin at 3:30pm in the Cafeteria tomorrow.  This week, our development will be led by the PE/Health and World Languages department. 

Message from Jason

On Monday, 3/10, Sumner (copy machine company) will be working on the copy machines in FACS

and the Faculty workroom starting at 9 am. 

Sumner will be installing an additional paper tray on the machine in the faculty workroom.

Winter Play

Join our budding thespians under the direction of our drama teacher, Mr. Conners for the annual Winter Play.  There will be two shows you can catch with the first one on Friday at 6:30pm, followed up by an encore performance on Saturday at 6:30pm.

Building Substitutes

By now, many of you have worked with or met our building substitutes, Jodie Hintze and Jamie Young.  This year, we are fortunate to have them join our team to sub or help out as needed.  Welcome to Jodie and Jamie!

Sunday Night Memo, 12/2

December 2, 2018

Happy December!  The newly acquired advent calendar allows Charlotte to remind us of how many days are left until Christmas.  More importantly for us, we are in the 3 week stretch until we get to winter break!  I hope you find time to breath and take a minute for yourself as the days will begin to fly.

Today was a brisk, sometimes cloudy yet beautiful day for the PTO’s Webster Holiday House Tour.  I don’t have final numbers but judging from the lines at the house I was at this morning, there were a ton of people who came through the tour.  THANK YOU to all the teachers who carved out time today to serve as a house host at the Siebert’s home.  It is much appreciated! 

Self Care Monday, 12/3

On Monday we will meet in the library with time set aside to organize yourself for the holidays.  Would you like to share some of your favorite recipes with your Hixson Family? Bring them!  Do you need to write out your holiday cards? Bring them!  Do you want to get some gifts wrapped? Bring them (and your wrapping paper)! See you then!  Oh and don't forget to bring your holiday cheer!

Retirement Session w/Lanita, 12/3

On Monday, Lanita and Carl from HR, along with a financial rep will be in the faculty lounge from 2:30-4:00pm to meet with anyone with questions about retirement. 

Teacher Preference Sheets, 12/3

On Monday, you will find a teacher preference sheet for the 2019-2010 school year.  Please make sure to fill them out and return them to Kathy.

Band Concert, 12/5

The Winter Band Concerts will be on Wednesday, 12/5.  The 7^th grade Concert will begin at 6:00pm and the 8^th grade Concert will begin at 7:30pm.  Come on out and listen to our talented kids!

Lion’s Choice Fundraiser, 12/6

The monthly Lion’s Choice Fundraiser will be on Thursday, 12/6 from 4-8pm.  Stop by and grab dinner for yourself or family and tell them you are supporting Hixson Middle School.  We get back 20% which supports student activities, teacher supplies, etc.

Hixson Choir Tour, 12/7

Our fabulous choir is going on the road this Friday for the annual music tour through our elementary schools.  This year 7^th and 8^th grade choir will be hitting the road and will be accompanied by Carin and Mike. 

Hour of Code, 12/21

Randy R has put together an Hour of Code event for the school to participate in together on the last day before Winter Break.  Reminders will be sent out as we get closer to the date but let us know if you have questions.  Thanks for putting this event together!
