SLT Meeting
Our last SLT meeting will be tomorrow at 3:30pm in the library. We will discuss and settle on a date for our summer retreat, break off into different teams to lead building work and talk about the end of the year. Unfortunately, I have not heard back from district technology so will not have sample laptops for viewing like I wanted.
Chromebook Collection
Tomorrow, students will turn in their Chromebooks and chargers to their 4th hour classes. Once they are in your rooms, please follow the instructions shared by Jason. I know it will be a bit messy and confusing as times as we shift the Chromebooks back to the classrooms. Thank you for you patience through this process. A special thank you to Bettye, Lana and Jason for all of their hard work and planning to create the process for collection so that we can make sure that every student has a working Chromebook for our MAP tests.
Mike Visits
From now until the end of the year, Mike Hazelton will be visiting our building once a week. He will start his days at Steger, getting to know his new class of students and building relationships. He will then spend some time with us, getting to know our building.
Outs This Week
Sarah Bodi and I will be out on Tuesday for LACE. Sarah and I will also be out on Wednesday morning to meet with the Steger team and have a transition meeting about our next class of students with teachers and admin.
Aimee and I will be out on Thursday for DLT.
Have a great week!
With gratitude,
Grace

Monday Morning Memo, 4/2/18
April 2, 2018
I hope you had a wonderful weekend with family and friends and staying warm. I have to admit that a tiny part of me had a giant wondering about a possible snow day...
Construction Update
Facilities informed me that the rooms with partitions will not get walls this summer. Upon closer investigation, they discovered asbestos and will need to budget the time and money for abatement before they put up the wall. We are planning for the summer of 19-20. Since that project was cancelled, instead, facilities will finish the carpet to tile construction for the entire 2nd story wing. Sorry for the disappointment and delay. I'm learning, constantly, that a building built in the 50-60's will always have to deal with the asbestos issues because of the materials used in that time period to build.
Staffing Update
A quick update to let everyone know of a slight change to the projected staffing for next year. Vinnie Raimondo will be joining the PE/Health department next year.
This week, we will begin posting our open positions for Counseling (formerly Social Work), ELA/SS and Math. Please let me know if you have any questions.
SUB Requests
If your department has any PD scheduled from now until the end of the year, please put it in as soon as possible. Those are dates we know about ahead of time so it gives the district plenty of time to fill them with a sub. If you wait until the last minute, the risk is that we are potentially left without a sub and must scramble for coverage. During high demand sub days, we are left without all of our requests filled. Thank you to everyone who subs on those days.
Outs This Week
I will be out on Friday for a Student Leadership Summit in the morning and in the afternoon for a transition IEP at Steger.
There are no meetings scheduled for this week. Have a great week.
With Gratitude,
Grace
