NOTES:

Thank you to Sarah Moore, Officer Todd and Leslie Bennett for donating flowers, trees and decorations to our hallways – we’re looking good!

If you see students at school very early, please let me know who they are.  I’ll call or send a note home.

Now that we’re in November, it’s time to make that mid-year check up with your evaluator.  To review: Growth plan, SLOs, observations, schedule Formal observation and Formal observation conference.

The yearbook club members will be photographing during the day on Monday with their cameras and yearbook club badges. They understand not to disturb classes and use their manners.  If there are any problems with these students and the photography – please let Sharon know.

I know some teachers want their students to come to their classes at 7:50 a.m.  If so, you will need to come to the auditorium entry and get them.  I don’t have hallway supervision before 8:00 and having students move about the building unsupervised is not a good idea.

Enjoy the week!

NOTES:

Change in a.m. announcements – Announcements will be made at 8:36 a.m.  A principal will start announcements with a greeting and any news from the office.  Then he/she will ask students to join her/him and a class of students for the Pledge of Allegiance.  We will say the pledge as a school.  To say the pledge, I’ll be going to one class a week.  Mrs. Pettid has volunteered her class for next week!!!  After the pledge, you can watch the daily broadcast with your class.

I’ve had the opportunity to see and listen in on a few conferences already.  You all do a fantastic job communicating great things about the student’s progress and plans to help them learn and grow.  I admire you for your dedication to each child; and I am proud to call you colleagues.  I know that next week is a long hard week, please let me know if you need anything; and don’t forget to take care of yourself.

I have been working with those who have duties about organizing the expectations for supervision and for students.   We will begin a morning pass system that will be color coded for the different parts of the building ie: 7th grade hall, 8th grade hall, library and electives.  25 passes will be available for each location.  I will share the updated Supervision Guidelines as soon as they are complete.

Coming soon – Voting day at Hixson.   This year all WGSD schools are participating in the Kids Voting USA program. Here at Hixson, students in 8th grade will have the opportunity to vote on Friday November 4th and 7th grade will vote on Monday November 7th. The students will vote during their social studies class time to minimize schedule interruptions. Here is a link to the schedule (https://goo.gl/4YHePv), which you will also find in your mailbox Monday.

Remember:  SLOs need to be approved and included in iObservation by 10/19.  You may send them to your evaluator or me as soon as complete.  Thank you.

Last reminder…. Do not end students to electives teachers for supplies, ingredients, materials – they do not have extra items to hand out.  Thank you
